AB  - In a sample of 349 Portuguese nurses in the United Kingdom, close to half were young, recent graduates, 25 years old or less and found their first job upon emigration to the UK. Generally, employment in the UK was obtained through employment agencies that recruited Portuguese nurses either in Portugal or the UK. In the majority of cases, emigration translated into possibilities for better professional mobility. 

Numa amostra de 349 enfermeiros portugueses emigrados no Reino Unido, cerca de metade eram jovens recém-licenciados, com menos de 25 anos, que aqui encontraram o seu primeiro emprego. Em regra, o emprego no Reino Unido foi obtido através de agências empregadoras que, neste país ou em Portugal, recrutam enfermeiros portugueses. Na maioria dos casos, a emigração traduziu-se em percursos de mobilidade profissional.
