Abstract/Resumo
Despite prior studies of senior tourists, there still remains a large void in the appreciation of what motivates this market, and this absence of knowledge is the focus of this study. Using Web-of-Science data from 1997-2016, CiteSpace scientometrics is employed to analyse the trends and areas of research in senior tourism conducted so far. The empirical investigation sheds light on the interaction of motivation, emotion and intentions. Satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between motivations and emotions with behavioral intentions, while strenghening the positive relationship between push and pull motivations. Previous experience moderates the positive effect of satisfaction on intention. Approaches to improve seniors'attitudes toward tourism products and services are offered.
