The “Sea Architectures” project combines historical and architectural knowledge related to the sea, to present a set of integrated intervention proposals in terms of uses, landscape and architectural rehabilitation, taking into account regional specificities and local culture. Considering that human activities must be compatible with the preservation of these values, it studies the fundamentals of sustainable management of that territory (Arrábida and Sotavento Algarvio coastal areas) from an ecological, economic and social point of view. The project is an interdisciplinary jointventure of Research Centers linked to Architecture (CIAUD – FA-UL), Landscape Architecture (CEAP – ISA-UL), Environment – (CERENA – IST-UL), Anthropology – (CEI-IUL – ISCTE-IUL) and Archeology (Mértola Archaeological Field), defining the set of criteria that support operational models of intervention of a transdisciplinary nature.
