My research to date has been concerned with collective narcissism and psychological predictors of intergroup hostility. I examined the cognitive underpinnings of political beliefs related to intergroup conflict and prejudice; the role of the complexity of political reasoning; motivated closed-mindedness, death anxiety and ideological orientations such as nationalism or religious orientations in inspiring intergroup hostility. In have also examined embodiment of prejudice. I examine effects of smell on prejudice and the link between physical contacts with stigmatised group members and need for physical cleansing.

 I have developed research on the concept of collective narcissism – a belief in in-group´s exaggerated image contingent on recognition from others– that predicts intergroup hostility in response to intergroup threat. I have published 12 peer-reviewed papers and 3 chapters on this research. I have recently received an advanced research grant from the Polish Science Centre to further investigate this concept. The Collective Narcissism Scale, I constructed, has been translated to many languages (full list on collectivenarcissism.com). It has been used in research conducted by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) among Liberation Tamil Tiger of Eelam (LTTE) detainees in Sri Lanka. START (prof Kruglanski, dr Jasko) and three more independent labs work on this concept currently (at University of Kent, dr Cichocka, at Kardynal Wyszynski University in Poland, dr Zemojtel-Piotrowska, at ISCTE in Portugal, dr Guerra).
