With a bachelor's and master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Algarve (UAlg), a postgraduate degree in Territorial Management, specialization in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a PhD in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies, specialty of Geography and Planning, from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH, UNL), André Samora-Arvela is currently an integrated member of the Information Sciences, Technologies and Architecture Research Center (ISTAR) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE -IUL) and member of the project “GreenCity4Aging: the effects of urban green streets on mobility, social integration and ageism among older people” (Ref.ª 2022.03478.PTDC). André Samora-Arvela was a professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and an integrated member of the Center for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies (CEGOT) from 2021 to 2023 as part of his post-doctorate, collaborating member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA), Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH, UNL) from 2015 to 2021, and collaborating member of the Center for Research on Space and Organizations (CIEO), which was renamed as Research Center for Tourism, Sustainability and Wellbeing (CinTurs), UAlg, from 2011 to 2021. His transdisciplinary vocation and eclecticism are reflected in his participation in international and national projects within the scope of Spatial Planning; Geography; Landscape Architecture; Societal Challenges of Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change; Community Preparedness for Risk; Integrated Management of Rural Fires; Space, Active Aging and Ageism; Sustainable Development and Globalization; Sustainable Tourism Development; Tourist Experience; Planning, Management and Resilience of Tourist Destinations; Tourism Qualification and Differentiation; Geographic Information Systems; Methods Applied to Social Research, among others.
