Rodrigo Simões is an MSc Fellow of the European RESETTING project, as well as a Research Assistant of ISTAR-IUL. He has worked in the software industry for over 3 years as a developer, having contributed to the development and maintenance of several applications of the Agência para a Modernização Administrativa (AMA). Currently, as part of his research, he is developing a digital platform for visualization of geo-temporal crowding data, with the goal of aiding tourism Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) mitigate the effects of overtourism, and it can also be used by city authorities for the management of smart cities.
He has presented the crowding visualization platform at several events, namely: two general assemblies of the RESETTING project, having won Best Demo award at one of them; a Geography conference (XIV Congresso da Geografia Portuguesa), with an accepted abstract and a submitted paper; the inauguration of the CVTT building in Iscte-IUL; the visit by the Lafayette University delegation that occurred in ISTAR.
