I am an ethnobotanist, ethnobiologist with degrees from the University of Kent, UK. I conduct research in ethnobiology, ethnobotany, cultural anthropology, gender issues, poverty alleviation, natural product research and development, education and community social enterprise, access to benefit sharing and policies for community and women's empowerment. I use mainly ethnobotanical, ethnography and a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. My field work experience includes Morocco and India. I was recently the Main Investigator of the EU project MBABS (Moving Beyond Access to Benefit Sharing). The project focused on the factors that determine the attribution of access to benefit sharing (ABS). It analysed the short and long-term impact of ABS on local communities, how socio-economic conditions and social status improved, and how its attribution contributed to the retention of traditional knowledge and resource sustainability. https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/894416.
Prior to this, I was the Main Investigator of the EU project EWTEK. The EWTEK project investigated how Pillar II of the Green Morocco Plan (GMP) launched in 2008 and allowed rural women to improve their socioeconomic status in using Morocco Traditional Knowledge. https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/657223
