José António Filipe has a PhD in Quantitative Methods (Operations Research) by ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa; has a Master degree in Management Sciences by ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa; and was graduated in Economics by ISEG/UTL - Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.

Assistant Professor with Habilitation at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa; Member of Conselho Geral of ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (2016-2020); Former Subdirector of Department of Mathematics in ISTA - School of Technology and Architecture, at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa.

Member of more than 20 International Organizations, Mentor and Patron of some of them and Country Head for Portugal of an International Academic Organization. Fellow Member in the Institute of Integrative Omics and Applied Biotechnology. Associated to many world organizations, particularly in Academia in European Countries, India, USA and Brazil.
