Experience:
Dr. Miguel Mbiavanga Ajú
is originally from Angola and has extensive international experience in complex conflict and post-conflict contexts in Africa (Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Guinea-Bissau and Central African Republic) through Southeast Asia (Timor-Leste) and the Caribbean region (Haiti). He also has professional experience in Europe (The Netherlands), the North Pacific region of Micronesia (Republic of Palau and Federated States of Micronesia) and the United States of America.

Academic Background:

He obtained his PhD and Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma in Political Science and International Relations from the University Institute of Lisbon (IUL-ISCTE), Portugal. A Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Business and Management from Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, Scotland. He also studied Philosophy previously at the Diocesan Major Seminary of Saint Paul, Uíge, in his native home country of Angola.

Affiliation:
He is a Researcher at the Centre for International Studies (CEI-ISCTE) in Lisbon, Portugal. His areas of interest include geopolitics, conflicts and security dynamics in the Horn of Africa, regional peace operations and international politics.
