I am a Research Support Officer at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, contributing to the strategic planning, development and promotion of institutional projects at national and international levels. My role includes advising the institution and its research community on funding opportunities and supporting multidisciplinary teams in preparing competitive applications, particularly to Horizon Europe and other national and European funding programmes.
Previously, I pursued a research career in population genetics and molecular ecology, focusing on vector-borne diseases (dengue and malaria) and the conservation genetics of endangered species.
I have co-authored over 100 scientific works, including five book chapters and 28 peer-reviewed international journal articles. My publications have received approximately 1,300 citations (h-index: 20). I have led three competitively funded projects as Principal Investigator and participated in 27 research and capacity building projects, 14 of them international.
I hold a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Lisbon (2007) and have undertaken research stays in Switzerland, the USA, Ghana and Brazil. My scientific career has been supported by one award, four fellowships and eight travel grants, enabling me to establish an international network of 11 research teams across Europe, the Americas and Africa. My expertise spans research, capacity building, cooperation, project management, laboratory techniques, data analysis and fieldwork involving diverse taxa.
