CV Summary

Paulo Mendes is an associated researcher at the ISTAR research center of ISCTE-IUL since 2017. He is also the coordinator of the SITI group of the Cognition and People centric computing Research Center (COPELABS) at University Lusofona, where he is associated professor, and director of the Ph.D program on Informatics - New Media and Pervasive Systems (NEMPS). His research and teaching interests are in the area of Self-organized network systems, 5G and wireless networks, Network automation, Information-centric networking, and Mobile edge computing. He studied Informatics Engineering at University of Coimbra receiving a diploma degree in 1993, and at the Technical University of Lisbon receiving a M.Sc. degree in 1998 in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2004 he got his Ph.D. (summa cum laude) degree in Informatics Engineering from the University of Coimbra, having performed his Ph.D. thesis work as a visiting Scholar at Columbia University, New York. Before his Ph.D. Paulo worked in industry as coordinator of the telematic unit at Fernave, while he was researcher at the informatics center of University of Coimbra. After his Ph.D. Paulo was a senior researcher at NTT DOCOMO Euro-labs for 4 years, and a research coordinator at the Portuguese research lab INESCTEC for 3 years. In 2010 we co-founded the research center on Informatics and Technologies (SITILabs) at University Lusofona, which gave place to COPELABS in October 2013. In 2013 we was also the co-founded of the Senception LDA start-up. The publication record includes over 100 scientific articles and 13 international patents. Besides his scientific publications, Paulo is a member of the ACM SIGCOMM and IEEE and also has contributing to IETF/IRTF work.
