PhD in Sociology from ISCTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Researcher at CIES-Iscte, with collaborations in various projects in the fields of sociology of health, science and knowledge, and professions. Published work on such subjects as medical and therapeutic pluralism; patient associations and activism; information sources in health, lay practices and rationales; or  scientific research networks. Current interest in sociological research taking cinema as a document and agent of the (re)production of social reality, as materialized in the doctoral thesis "Health in Cinema: Moving images in the structuration of a field of practices".
