Abstract/Resumo
This study investigates the effectiveness of two therapy methods—
standard cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and a novel mindfulnessbased
therapy (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)—in
reducing anxiety levels. Using a sample of 60 participants, randomly
assigned to either therapy group, we measured anxiety levels at baseline,
mid-treatment, and post-treatment using the Beck Anxiety Inventory
(BAI). One-Way ANOVA was employed to compare the mean anxiety
levels between the two groups, while binary logistic regression was used
to analyze the effect of anxiety levels on the probability of being in the
new therapy group. The results indicate a significant reduction in anxiety
levels for the new therapy group MBCT compared to the standard therapy
group CBT. This study highlights the importance of using complementary
statistical methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of therapy
effectiveness and provides valuable insights for clinical practice.
