Abstract/Resumo
Let G = SL(2,F) where F is a local field of characteristic zero.
We use R-groups to study the reducibility of the unitary principal series of G. We show how the arithmetic of F has implications on the topology of the tempered dual of G and on the structure of the underlying reduced C*-algebra.
