This study continues the psychosocial monitoring of the areas surrounding the LIPOR II incineration plant, which began in 1998, presenting the results for 2025 on the resident population's attitude towards the plant. The monitoring used a short structured questionnaire, in use since 2008, which in this edition was administered online.
The main objective of the study was to characterize the attitudes and perceptions of residents towards LIPOR II and to assess whether the experience of living near the plant influences their quality of life. Based on a theoretical model of psychosocial monitoring, the impact of perceived environmental quality and the perceived threat associated with the plant on the well-being of residents was analyzed, controlling for sociodemographic variables.
Additionally, the study considered the moderating role of the distance from the residence to the plant and the degree of connection to the community, based on the assumption that greater proximity and a stronger connection to the place intensify these relationships. To this end, indicators of attitudes towards the plant, perception of threat, perceived environmental quality, residents' well-being, and connection to the community were analyzed.
