The most relevant components of this movement are Blockadia, the ‘traditional’ climate justice movement’s more radical wing, Extinction Rebellion and Youth Climate strikers (Fridays for Future). They are combining in a global call for civil disobedience and insurgency on political lines that respond to the calls for a 50% greenhouse gas global cut by 2030, and the rise of social justice. Radical Green New Deals’ versions, and campaigns such as Climate Jobs may create the political program for a social rev- olution in line with Walter Benjamin, who pro- posed an alternative view for revolution: it is not inevitable or a natural result of the contradiction between productive forces and productive rela- tions, but rather an interruption of a historical evolution that is leading to catastrophe. The cli- mate justice movement is a revolutionary emer- gency brake against climate collapse. ER -
