As digital technologies reshape societies and economies, they also highlight and exacerbate existing social asymmetries. This paper explores the critical intersection of social equity and digital education, examining how disparities in access to digital resources and education can impact the future socio-economic in inequalities, arguing that equitable access to digital education is not only a matter of justice but also a fundamental driver of sustainable development and social cohesion. The paper shows the current state of digital education, highlighting significant gaps between different socio-economic groups, regions, and countries. It reviews the barriers to access, including infrastructure deficits, economic constraints, and socio-cultural factors. Also, it will be demonstrated the challenges faced by marginalized communities, who are disproportionately affected by these barriers, and the compounding effects of gender, ethnicity, aged and disability on digital access. The paper also explores the transformative potential of digital education in promoting social equity, if there are learning opportunities in providing a flexible, scalable, and inclusive digital education and how it can overcome educational gaps and empower individuals with the skills needed. Through successful case studies and practices from around the world, it can be demonstrated how targeted interventions and policies can mitigate digital divides and foster greater social equity. Finally, the paper recommends outlines for a forward-looking agenda in order to ensure equitable access to digital education, calling for multi-stakeholder collaboration, innovative policy frameworks, and sustained investment in digital infrastructure and capacity-building. The conclusion emphasizes that addressing digital asymmetries is imperative for a just and inclusive future, where all individuals have the opportunity to participate fully in the digital age. ER -
