TY - GEN TI - Dynamic Swedish-Norwegian cooperation T2 - Pubic Service Review AU - Medeiros, E. PY - 2010 SP - 1-296 SN - 1472-3395 AB - INTERREG A falls within the framework laid out for the European Union Cohesion Policy third objective: European Territorial Cooperation. In this article we will highlight some developments for the Swedish-Norwegian cross-border cooperation over a number of years. Cross-border cooperation takes a variety of forms. Obviously trade and commerce and commuting are vital parameters of cross-border cooperation intensity. By these measures, the basis for joint efforts between border regions in Sweden and Norway is strong. In trade, Sweden is at the same time the number one market – import and export – for the Norwegian economy, excluding oil and gas. The amount of cross-border commuting is greater here than anywhere else in the Nordic countries. Add to that, cross-border infrastructure involves a vast number of roads along the 1,619km of border. The strongest links connect the greater Oslo region to Stockholm and to Copenhagen via Gothenburg, forming the so-called Nordic triangle. ER -
