AB - By natively supporting in-network cachingand name-based forwarding, Information-Centric Net-working (ICN) brings in features that are relevant to bettersupport data transmission in opportunistic wireless net-works. Such environments are highly challenged becauseof the node mobility and intermittent contacts. Therefore, forwarding packets to the right node at the right momentis critical to data retrieval performances. This paperproposes a novel ICN Forwarding Strategy that leveragesnotable metrics, such as centrality and reliability, and theoptimal stopping theory to statistically select the best next-hop forwarders and the time to perform the forwardingdecision. Simulations with realistic mobility traces showthat the proposed forwarding strategy outperforms otherstate-of-the-art solutions by guaranteeing shorter retrievaltime and less overhead in terms of packet replicas.
