Abstract
It is proposed to explore the relationship between architecture and landscape architecture from the reading of the Portuguese Regional Architecture Survey conducted in the 1950s and the reading of the texts of the 1940s and 1950s by the landscape architect Francisco Caldeira Cabral compiled in the work Foundations of Architecture Landscaping (2003). Recognizing some common topics in the reading of these two works (the Inquiry of the architects in the 1950s and the texts of Francisco Caldeira Cabral of 1940 and 50), it is intended to establish a dialogue between these two disciplinary areas - architecture and landscape architecture. The aim of this approach is to clarify, through some examples of popular architecture shown from the Inquiry (practical proposals), some of the theoretical foundations presented by Francisco Caldeira Cabral in his theoretical work. Through the reading carried out it is concluded that it exists in both. The idea of a common view centered on the idea of "intrinsic beauty of the work" referenced by Caldeira Cabral, contrary to the application of a decorative form (common to the defenders of the Portuguese House) where landscape values, economic and functional aspects support rational and Of harmony between the action of man and the landscape.
