Abstract
Abstract: Addressing and discussing a topic of paramount importance for our continent—the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) and the contributions of African Regional Organizations (AROs) in promoting peace and security in Africa—is both compelling and complex. APSA is a strategic framework established by the African Union (AU) to address the peace and security challenges facing the continent. In a context marked by armed conflict, political crises, and social instability, APSA stands out as an integrated and coordinated response by African countries to promote security and stability. Meanwhile, the AROs—initially better known as Regional Economic Communities (RECs)—serve as the regional pillars of the African Union. The combination of these two "entities" gives rise to the security dynamics and challenges of Africa. Date: September 24, 2025
