Abstract
This paper studies the scenario of providing smooth adaptive playback for dynamic video streaming over HTTP in constrained networks. We propose and evaluate a bandwidth control loop programmed into a new management service operating over an SDN controller. Experimental results based on emulation show that the proposed low-complexity solution reduces the number of times a DASH video client switches among the diverse video representations, thus enhancing the video quality presented at each client, despite unfair competitive UDP traffic.
