Esta comunicação resulta de uma pesquisa que procura explorar a relação entre as mudanças sociais e políticas trazidas pelo 25 de Abril de 1974 e as transformações ocorridas no campo da maternidade e do parto em Portugal. Para o efeito, iremos percorrer o roteiro do projeto "ABRIL MATER: maternidade e parto antes e depois da Revolução" (CIES-Iscte, 2023-2024), trazendo à luz os principais objetivos e resultados desta pesquisa. Nesse caminho, lançaremos pistas sobre a diversidade de normas, valores e crenças que caracterizaram as práticas da gravidez, do parto e do cuidado de crianças nas décadas de 1960 a 1980, dando particular destaque às experiências de maternidade protagonizadas por mulheres e famílias no contexto da clandestinidade. This presentation spawns from research that seeks to explore the relationship between the social and political changes brought by the 25th of April 1974 and the transformations that occurred in the field of motherhood and childbirth in Portugal. For this purpose, we will present the main objectives and results of the project "ABRIL MATER: pregnancy and childbirth before and after the Revolution" (CIES-Iscte, 2023-2024), bringing to light the diversity of norms, values and beliefs that characterized the practices of pregnancy, childbirth and child care in the 1960's to the 1980's, and giving particular emphasis to the experiences of motherhood carried out by women and families in the context of clandestinity.
