Abstract
Patients with disabilities usually require repetitive and sometimes painful therapy to regain functionality. Serious games are used as a tool to complement therapist's interventions aiming to promote engagement and motivation. Smart healthcare provides tools to build smart environments using technological advances such as wearable, mobile, and Internet of Things devices to capture data from user's interactions to obtain knowledge. A digital twin of the patient is a representative virtual replica of the physical patient allowing status assessment, application of scenarios, simulation, and prediction. A framework model for a digital twin of the patient for personalized serious game-based therapy is presented.
