Abstract
This research investigates the role of encoding-schemas and item-typicality in conscious recollection using the Remember-Know paradigm. While perceptual encoding improved overall retrieval, atypical items enhanced specifically the recollective experience (Remember-responses). These findings are discussed in light of the memory-transformation approach and contribute to clarify important functional aspects of declarative memories.
