Abstract/Resumo
Organizational commitment is one of the central themes in the field of organizational behavior, due to the centrality that its concept plays in the functioning of organizational units. This concept has often been associated with important organizational benefits, such as greater involvement, greater job satisfaction, lower employee turnover, achievement of objectives and, consequently, better productivity and performance. It should therefore be considered by organizations and managers who are concerned about keeping their employees and, consequently, the long-term sustainability of their businesses. The literature highlights the complexity and polysemy of the concept of organizational commitment, highlighting the issues linked to its dimensionality. In this sense, it is clear that the concept is an interconnection of multidimensional factors that influence the relationship between workers and the organization. For this reason, organizations must promote organizational commitment in order to guarantee long-term success.
