Abstract
The structure of social media platforms allows us to extract meaningful information regarding the dynamics and relationships of real-world actors. In this paper, we used Twitter data to better understand the landscape of news organizations in Portugal and the Philippines through network science techniques. Our findings showed similarities and differences between the two countries. For instance, we found higher levels of similarity in tweet content across news outlets in Portugal. However, in terms of retweeter behavior, we found more polarization on the Philippine news outlets.
