Em 2016, o decréscimo na emigração portuguesa acelerou-se, tendo saído do país cerca de 100 mil indivíduos. A revisão da série estatística estimada pelo Observatório aponta para a existência de um pico de emigração em 2013, superior ao que foi estimado até agora, de cerca de 120.000 saídas, bem como para uma descida progressiva mais lenta, em 2014 e 2015, para valores em torno de 110 mil saídas. A edição de 2017 do Factbook inclui dados atualizados a 2016 (ou último ano disponível) sobre a emigração portuguesa total e para os principais países de destino, bem como sobre as remessas dos emigrantes. // In 2016, the decrease in Portuguese emigration was accelerated, with about 100 thousand individuals leaving the country. The review of the statistical series estimated by the Observatory on total emigration points to the existence of a peak of emigration in 2013, higher than the one estimated so far, of around 120,000 outflows, as well as a progressive slower descent, in 2014 and 2015, to values around 110 thousand exits. The 2017 edition of the Factbook includes data updated to 2016 (or last year available) on total Portuguese emigration and for the main countries of destination, as well as on emigrants' remittances.
