Abstract
This systematic review will be grounded in the conceptual framework provided by the process model of emotion regulation from Gross and Thompson (2007), and will take into account the taxonomy proposed by Webb et al. (2012) on the emotion regulation processes, specific and subtypes of emotion regulation strategies and correspondent instructions given to participants. A PICOS (Population, Intervention, Control, Outcome, and Study Design) approach will be followed (Liberati et al., 2009) to focus on the identification of relevant empirical studies that analyzed the effects of a brief mindfulness induction for emotion regulation on emotional outcomes. We will search studies that tested the effects of brief inductions/interventions (minutes) of mindfulness in comparison to other emotion regulation strategies (e.g., reappraisal, distraction, suppression) and/or control conditions on emotional outcomes assessing experiential, expressive behavior and/or physiological outcomes, as dependent variables.
