Abstract/Resumo
We examined if motivations for safety and protection (i.e., prevention focus) motivated changes in sexual behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results from a longitudinal study showed that having a focus on prevention increased perceived threat over the risk of the pandemic. As a consequence, people reported less frequent intercourse and oral sex, and fewer sex partners, later on.
