Abstract
The effectiveness of a gratitude writing exercise on the intention to engage in prosocial behaviors was tested among 533 Portuguese and Brazilian participants. Through an experimental design, we found that a brief gratitude exercise led to increased gratitude feelings, positive emotions, empathic concern, and stronger prosocial intentions in both countries.
