Abstract
People make-sense of macro-level social change - new laws, new turistified cities, new gentrified neigbourhoods, new influxes of immigrants - in different ways, accepting or contesting it through different micro-level practices – different discourses, organized in different communicative formats, different actions, linked to shared representations that can be more or less dominant in a society, easier or more difficult to change. In this context, this symposium is concerned with the micro-level of meaning-making under changing macro-level circumstances for achieving a better understanding of…how the micro-level of meaning-making – helps reproduce or challenge the shared representations and power dynamics operating in the macro-contexts where it happens and thus helps understand the direction macro-change is/might be assuming.
