Abstract
The Palgrave Handbook on Nocturnal Cities brings together interdisciplinary perspectives from across the social sciences and humanities to advance a comprehensive, critical, and globally informed understanding of urban life after dark. The volume examines nocturnal cities as complex social, spatial, cultural, economic, political, environmental, and affective formations, addressing issues including governance, labour, infrastructures, inequalities, tourism, nightlife, care, resistance, sustainability, and sensory experience. Combining theoretically robust, empirically grounded, and methodologically diverse contributions from different world regions, the handbook provides conceptual tools and comparative perspectives for understanding the night as a central dimension of contemporary urban life.
