Abstract
Overcrowding in tourism has increased over the years and deteriorates not only the quality of life of stakeholders as well as the environment. Thus, detecting and managing crowding in touristic spots is a subject that benefits several social actors: Tourists, Local authorities, and Local residents. A Smart Tourism Toolkit (STToolkit) has been developed to trigger or assess overcrowding mitigation actions. This can be used by tourism-related SMEs to help manage their services, in order to improve efficiency and sustainability, and to reduce the overwhelming feeling of pressure in critical hotspots.
