Abstract/Resumo
The emergence of social networks has brought the possibilities of connection and production of content that have never been seen before. It generated an exponential amount of data - Big Data - that can be very useful for science and business. The study and development of Social Media Analytics (SMA) appear as a discipline that aims to analyse this data and has grown a lot in the last decade. The problem is that the access and manipulation of this information requires high monetary investment and computer expertise. There are tools, however, freely accessible and in need of little or no computer expertise to use them. A contribute to the social sciences area is proposed. Therefore, this study aims to understand what the Americans perceived regarding the subject telework during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using Google Trends search words and Twitter posts, it is concluded that, first, the Americans' view on the topic is divided and neutral and these SMA tools are useful in analysing this phenomenon. Finally, limitations to the study, future directions of research and conclusions are presented.
