  • Associate professor at the Sociology Department of University of Beira Interior (UBI), since 2002. Responsible for UC Exclusions and Inequalities, Project Design and Project Development (1st cycle in Sociology), Intervention Methodologies II: Project Management and Evaluation and Social Innovation Practices (2nd cycle in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation)
  • Director of the Master Degree Program in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation at UBI.

 
Research Interests

  • Main: Local and regional development.
  • Others: action research, evaluation and participation methodologies, social economy, associations and volunteering, social entrepreneurship, gender studies, adult education and lifelong learning.

 

Research and Social Intervention Projects (Selection)

  • 2019 - Member of the UBI team in the Project SPEED – Social Process Empowering Entrepreneurship Development, funded by Erasmus +.
  • 2018-2019 - External Evaluator of the Project IgualAnima Alentejo - Equality is Development, promoted by ANIMAR network and funded by POISE / Portugal 2020.
  • 2018: Member of the UBI team in the Laboratory of Ideas "Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship", managed and financed by the Union of Portuguese Misericórdias.
  • 2017 – External Evaluator of the Project ANIMAR - Empower to Act in Networking, promoted by ANIMAR network and funded by POISE / Portugal 2020.
  • 2016/2017 - Development of Structured Public Hearing initiatives under the project EIGEP / European Interaction Guidelines for Education Professionals when working with Children in Juvenile Justice Learning Contexts, funded by Erasmus +.
  • 2016/2017 – External Consultant for the Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Manteigas, Portugal.
  • 2014/2015 - Member of the Committee of Experts under the project DECIS - Building Training Strategies for Social Innovation, a project developed by Animar, Aliende, Ecogerminar and Seies, and funded by the EEA Grants and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Active Citizenship Programme).
  • 2014/2015 - Member of the UBI Team in the Study Employability in Organizations of Social Economy - the role of active employment policies, conducted by EAPN Portugal under an agreement with the Portuguese Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP).
