Adjunct professor in Higher School of Nursing, Lisbon (ESEL), master degree in  Education Sciences, specialist in the area of nursing by ESEL (public examination in 2017).

Work experience:

• Clinical experience

1989-1998 General care nurse in university, district hospitals and maternities: neonatology units, men's surgery unit, neonatal intensive care units and delivery rooms. Also highlights the primary health care experience in two institutions in Lisbon and one in Alentejo.

1999 Specialized obstetric nurse in a delivery room in a Lisbon public hospital.

• Pedagogical experience

1999 - 2001 assistant at Bissaya Barreto Higher School of Nursing in Coimbra;

2002 - 2005 assistant at Calouste Gulbenkian Higher School of Nursing in Lisbon (ESECGL);

2006 - 2018 adjunct professor at ESEL's maternal health and obstetric department.

• Within the scope of the pedagogical activity developed

1. Lecturing of theoretical classes, namely in research, ethics and deontology, obstetric nursing, maternal health, bioethics, and project development;
2. Tutoring nurse students in the accomplishment of works of end of course, in the elaboration and development of projects and in the submission of reports of internship for public discussion (master degree);
3. Guidance and supervision of students in clinical practice and reporting internships;
4. Orientation and evaluation of students research work;
5. Guidance and supervision of teaching assistants and guest assistants;
6. Coordination of theoretical curricular units (ethics in reproduction, final reflection seminar of the course) and clinical teaching of undergraduate and master's degrees (clinical practice IV- Care of the pregnant / family in situations of maternal-fetal risk);
7.  Planning and conducting analyzes of practices and seminars;
8. Coordination of a degree course that included a partnership with military institutions (2005-2009);
9. Participation in the statutory dimension of schools: pedagogical council (2003-2006) and scientific council (2005-2007);
10. Participation in the elaboration of regulations, curricular unit programs, course curricula and guidance and evaluation documents.

• Developed research

1998 In the scope of the Course of Specialized Studies in Maternal and Obstetrical Health, carried out and presented a qualitative and exploratory study entitled "Care Concept and Operationalization of Obstetric Nurses in the Delivery Room.";

2004 In the scope of the Master of Science in Education of the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies, concluded and defended the master thesis "Coerce or emancipate? On the Role of Nursing in the Exercise of Parturients Citizenship ". The study was characterized as exploratory and qualitative;

2008 In the context of public exam for the category of Professor-Coordinator in the area of ??Maternal Health and Obstetrical Nursing, a quantitative cross-sectional and exploratory study entitled "Male Perceptions and Practices on Sexual Health" was conducted, presented and discussed;

2017 PhD project in sociology with the title "Men's Social Representations on Sexual Health and Sexual Health Care Access". Approved by the Scientific Committee of ISCTE-IUL;

2018 Participation in the project team "Caring for development during labor: the effectiveness of hydrotherapy in pain management" - ESEL.

• Participation in professional associations

2006 - 2008 Board of directors of the Portuguese Nurse Association (APE):

Nominated by APE as delegate in the National Forum of Professional Nursing Organizations (FNOPE);

Designated as Portuguese Deputy Delegate in the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN) until 2007.

2004 - 2005 was appointed by the President of the ESECGL Board of Directors to be a member of the Joint Commission of the PhD in Nursing Sciences, University of Lisbon.

2005 "1st Course of Introduction to Sexual Medicine" (48 hours) successfully attended.  Corresponding to 3 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) (DL - 173/80 of May 29) and took place between April 7 and June 30, 2005, in the Faculty of Sciences Physicians at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

2006 "1st Course of the Pelvic Floor, Urinary Incontinence, Fecal Incontinence and Female Sexual Dysfunction" successfully attended. This course lasted 14 hours and was conducted by the Institute of Medical Education, on 17 and 18 February 2006 in Lisbon;

2007 Course "Ethics and Values", lasting 16 hours, integrated in the Summer School 2007 of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (from September 4 to 7);

2008 Course "Statistical Analysis with the support of SPSS: Module I - Basic Competences in Statistics and SPSS, Module II - Inferential with SPSS and Module III - Elementary Analysis Techniques for Multivariate Analysis with SPSS", with a duration of 45 hours, carried out by the Permanent Training Department of the Higher Institute of Applied Psychology (from March 12 to June 25);

2017 In November, started the 8th Postgraduate Course on Improvement of Introduction to Biostatistics,until March 18th, 2018, in a total of 224 hours (30 lectures and 194 autonomous study), at the Epidemiology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon .
