António Lopes, Licenciate in Computer Science and Business Management (2002, ISCTE), MSc in Computer Engineering and Telecommunications (2006, ISCTE) and a PhD in Information Sciences and Technologies - Artificial Intelligence branch (2011, ISCTE-IUL), is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science and Technology of the School of Technologies and Architecture at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon. Since 2015, he has been Director of ISCTE's Information Systems Development Services.
His research activities began in 2000 at ADETTI's intelligent systems laboratory, where he participated in various national and international projects until the end of 2008. In January 2009 started his activities as researcher at IT-IUL (the research group of ISCTE-IUL's group at Instituto de Telecomunicações) until October 2025. Currently, he's a full member researcher at ISTAR_Iscte where he focuses on the application of Artificial Intelligence across other research areas.
He is responsible for the Specialisation Seminar in Generative Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Research for training teachers and researchers at ISCTE and coordinator of the course Academic Work with Artificial Intelligence, dedicated to training students in the ethical and responsible use of Generative AI.
