Carla Lopes is a PhD candidate in Architecture at ISCTE-IUL and part of the research group Digital Living Spaces at ISTAR. For her PhD thesis, she focuses on how commercial spaces and virtual technologies relate in the architectural space. She is interested in exploring how digital technologies are used in architecture, both during the design project and at the final built spaces.
She has presented her work at ENIA - Encontro Nacional de Investigação em Arquitetura (Lisbon 2017) and at the ISTAR Winterschool (Lisbon 2018).
Lopes graduated in Architecture (University of Coimbra 2007) and has a graduate certificate in Art History, Heritage and Cultural Tourism (University of Coimbra 2009).
Since her graduation she has collaborated in several firms of architecture in Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. She was also involved in the production of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale in 2013 and 2016.
