Célia Gouveia holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Her research is characterised by strong theoretical engagement and a sustained commitment to an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the intersections between media, culture, power, and governance in sport, as well as on gender, gendered media representations, and inequalities in sport, with particular attention to the Lusophone world. She publishes regularly in leading international journals such as The International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, Soccer & Society, The International Journal of the History of Sport, and Sport in Society.
