Célia Gouveia holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, where she also completed a Master’s degree in Communication, Culture, and Information Technologies, specialising in Network Communication. She earned a degree in European Studies from the Open University (UAb). Her research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, exploring the relationships between media and sport, mediated sporting events, cultural identity, and issues of legacy in European and Asian contexts. Her publications contribute to cultural studies through the lenses of history, politics, economics, sociology, and culture. She has published in The International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, Soccer & Society, The International Journal of the History of Sport, and Sport in Society.
