Diogo Cosme is a doctoral candidate and researcher specializing in the application of Generative AI to Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Iscte-IUL. During his master's program, he gained international exposure by spending a semester at the Université Gustave Eiffel in Paris as part of a dual-degree program.
His master's dissertation, conducted within the European
RESETTING project, involved automatically classifying Smart Tourism Tools (STTs) using Large Language Models to populate the European Smart Tourism Tools Observatory. This research earned him a final grade of 19.
Currently, his PhD research at Iscte-IUL and ISTAR-Iscte focuses on developing natural language interfaces for GIS through AI Assistants. His objective is to make GIS more intuitive and accessible to non-experts by allowing them to interact with and analyze geographic data using simple, conversational language.
In parallel with his doctoral studies, Diogo is involved in the
EUROSTIT project, continuing the work from his master's. He also remains committed to continuous learning, as demonstrated by his attendance at
LxMLS 25 - Lisbon Machine Learning School, which he attended to strengthen his expertise in machine learning and its applications.
