Duarte is a PhD fellow in Information Science and Technology at the Istar-Iscte research center. He completed his BSc. (2018) and MSc. in Computer Science and Management (2021) from Iscte. His main areas of study are geographic information systems (GIS), tourism, agent-based modeling (ABM), and Digital twins (DT). He participated in the Iscte Spots project, a multiplatform mobile application with serious games to show the history of Iscte and the RESETTING European project for sustainable tourism digital transformation and the development of smart tourism toolkits. He has some publications in quality journals and conferences on his main research topics, some related to the projects mentioned above.
He has a passion for teaching computer science, with a focus on programming, having taught several curricular units at Iscte as a monitor and invited assistant professor, as well as some modules in the UpSkill initiative, a partnership between IEFP and several universities in the country (including Iscte), and teaching robotics in Colégio Oriente.
