Inês Tavares obtained her PhD in Sociology from ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, with a thesis entitled “School and Social Inequalities in Portugal: social reproduction and the (im)probability of outsmarting fate”. She is currently a researcher at the Portuguese Inequalities Observatory and at CIES-ISCTE. She has participated in several research projects and is the author of books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed scientific articles, focusing primarily on social inequalities, education, the labour market, poverty, and territory. Currently, she is a member of the board of the Portuguese Sociological Association.
