Joana Alcântara is a PhD candidate in Urban Studies at ISCTE-IUL, where she is developing the research project “Degrowth and Urban Futures: A Critical Investigation of Space, Planning, and Post-Growth Imaginaries in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.” She holds a BA in Anthropology (FCSH-UNL) and a postgraduate degree in Anthropology of Social Movements and Human Rights from the same institution. Her work brings together critical geography, political ecology and anthropology, with a particular interest in the territorial implications of degrowth.
