CV Summary

Marta Sequeira graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (2001) and obtained her PhD at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (2008) - with a thesis on Corbusian public space and its relationship with Greek and Roman public space. She is currently Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL and at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, where she directs its PhD course in Contemporary Architecture.

She won, with her project practice, the AZ Award of Merit 2019 (organized by Azure in Toronto, in the category of Temporary and Experimental Installations), finalist of the FAD Prize 2018 and the FAD Prize 2019 (organized by Arquinfad in Barcelona, in the categories of Ephemeral Installations and Interiorism, respectively) and the BigMat International Architecture Award 2019 (organised by BigMat International in Luxembourg) and selected for the Dezeen Award 2019 (organised by Dezeen in London and New York, in the category of Apartment Interiors) and the German Design Award 2020 (organised by Rat für Formgebung in Berlin).

He has won, with his research, the 2009 University Texts of Social Sciences and Humanities competition (organised by the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), the ICAR-CORA Prize for the best doctoral Thesis (awarded by the International Council for Research in Architecture), the Prix de la recherche patiente 2016 - the most prestigious international prize on Corbusian studies, awarded annually by the Le Corbusier Foundation in Paris - and was also a finalist for the Fernando Távora Prize 2013-2014 and the Fernando Távora Prize 2014-2015 (organised by the Northern Regional section of the Order of Architects), as well as the FAD Prize for Thought and Criticism 2019 (organised by Arquinfad in Barcelona). One publication of which she is co-author won the Premio de Publicaciones (awarded by the XI Iberoamerican Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism), and another the FAD Prize for Thought and Criticism 2018 (organised by Arquinfad in Barcelona).

She is the author of several books and essays on contemporary Portuguese architecture and international modern architecture published in Portugal, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Lithuania, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and the United States of America.
