Digital Living Spaces addresses the design (conceptual, modelling, simulation, or fabrication) of different types of environments for human use and exploration, including interactive systems, Virtual and Augmented Reality and digital fabrication processes for different classes of human users and in diverse contexts.

Digital Living Spaces (DLS) is an interdisciplinary team of architects, archaeologists, civil engineers, landscape architects, and computer scientists, focuses on creating inclusive and resilient environments for all ages and needs. Through collaboration with diverse teams, we conduct comprehensive analysis, design, virtual simulation, and fabrication, integrating advanced technology and participatory design principles to enhance human experience, foster inclusion, and promote environmental sustainability.

DLS operates within four primary areas, intersecting internally and with other research groups.

Heritage Documentation and Protection (HDP)HDP focuses on the analysis and critical rethinking of historical sites, integrating expertise from history, archaeology, architecture, construction, sociology, and technology. Employing multidisciplinary and participatory approaches, HDP aims to conserve and valorize architectural heritage through various phases.

Interactive Design, Visualization, and Fabrication (DVF)DVF develops user-centered interfaces and experiences within the metaverse, integrating high-fidelity visualization models and multimodal human-computer interaction. We employ generative design and digital fabrication, promoting advanced technology, creativity, and co-creation.

Resilient Cities and Communities (RCC): RCC focuses on applied research in urban resilience and sustainability, related to urban form, low-carbon building materials, and energy efficiency. Integrating data-driven approaches and advanced digital design tools, RCC aims to enhance urban sustainability and resilience at various scales.

Ambient Assisted Living and Public Sector Innovation (AAL+)AAL+ develop solutions to promote active and healthy living in both private and public sectors. By integrating AI, machine learning, and information security, our aim is to enhance quality of life and innovation in public services.
