Priority Intervention Neighbourhoods and Zones Intervention Neighbourhoods (2013-2017). In 2010 the City Council of Lisbon, aware of the urban inequalities in the city, identified seventy-seven Priority Intervention Neighbourhoods and Zones (hereon, BIP/ZIP, original acronym in Portuguese). The one-year program is a model of participatory government that consists on the development of actions implemented by the civil society itself in the BIPs/ZIPs, with the financial and technical support of the City Council. Through this program, the City Council is trying to reinforce the socio-territorial cohesion of the municipality by mobilising citizen energy in the search for solutions that can continue into the future. The interventions can be related to the improvement of the appearance of the neighbourhood, the creation of services and activities for the community and visitors, the restoration, re-zoning and occupancy of public space, the promotion of the citizenry, the prevention of risk-related behaviour, etc. Since 2013 Vitruvius FABLAB is involved in five BIP/ZIP projects. All the projects are supported by participative processes along the project and digital fabrication of a solution as a respond to local specific needs. Participation along the process of design can bring information that was not expected in the beginning, information that without it the intervention can be a failure. Parametric or CAD/CAM tools in the design process, allows the architect to change and adapt the project to the context of the intervention in real time and involving participatory design along the process. The computationally-based processes are the opportunity for the architect to be more close to the user needs. Este projeto teve como objetivo investigar detalhadamente as condições de vida dos indivíduos atingidos pela crise e entender com sua cooperação como eles lidaram com o choque económico que experimentaram ou ainda estão experimentando. Metodologia: O trabalho procurou: Identificar os estudos mais recentes em Portugal sobre este assunto; Uma breve caracterização do fenómeno do desemprego nos últimos 5 anos; Identificação dos entrevistados com base nos critérios fornecidos pelo Coordenador conforme estabelecido no quadro metodológico para as entrevistas; As realizações das 15 entrevistas presenciais para entender como as pessoas foram afetadas pela crise com as diretrizes fornecidas pelo Coordenador; Uma transcrição de palavras das entrevistas no idioma original e em inglês; Analise e sintetize os principais achados da entrevista elaborando um relatório.

Tendo em conta a vulnerabilidade das regiões insulares face às alterações climáticas, o objetivo deste projecto é analisar os processos de adaptação das comunidades locais a este fenómeno e compreender como são produzidas as inovações sociais para enfrentar os impactos dessas alterações. Serão estudadas quatro grandes áreas: (1) inovações no domínio da produção e consumo de energia; (2) inovação nos sistemas de governação e gestão (regulação e regulamentação política); (3)inovações culturais (educação, cultura, tradições) e (4) inovações na estrutura e sistema económico (novas indústrias e actividades económicas). O trabalho empírico será desenvolvido nos Açores, Ilhas Canárias e Grécia e será conduzido por uma equipa de investigação internacional e interdisciplinar (investigadores da área da sociologia, economia, ciências do ambiente, ciências naturais e filosofia). Espera-se que este trabalho nos ajude a compreender padrões e mecanismos de resposta social, económica e política das regiões insulares aos desafios criados pelas alterações climáticas, bem como os processos de criação colectiva de inovações sociais sustentáveis.

Scientific mobility is one of the highly-skilled migration forms that have been gaining importance in European efforts to create a common European area for research; initiatives such as ERA, Marie Curie Fellowship, European Network of Mobility Centers and EURAXESS attest to this importance. Thus, this project aims to investigate how Portugal faces this reality. It is known that some initiatives were taken, such as Law 23/2007, facilitating the entry of international students and scientists in the country, research grant programs – FCT, the Gulbenkian and Champalimaud Foundation, Camões Institute – and several bilateral agreements between national and foreign institutions. Therefore, this proposal sets out to examine the impact of these actions in promoting the internationalization of Portuguese academia and to analyze the mobility trajectory taken by national and foreign researchers. In order to accomplish this goal, qualitative and quantitative methodologies will be employed, seeking to encompass the various dimensions of this phenomenon.
