Abstract
Esta comunicação teve por objetivo proceder a um balanço do modo como a historiografia recente se tem debruçado sobre a “Europa do Sul” no contexto da Guerra Fria e sobre o papel dos países da Europa do Sul (aqui considerados como Portugal, Itália, Grécia e Espanha) neste período da segunda metade do século XX em que o sistema internacional se caracterizou pela organização bipolar e pela rivalidade (militar, política, económica, ideológica e cultural) entre as duas super-potências, Estados Unidos e União Soviética.
