Abstract
Urge aprofundar a história do movimento operário e dos movimentos sociais na sociedade portuguesa. O associativismo constitui uma expressão indelével da historicidade moderna. A partir de dados quantitativos recolhidos pela Câmara Municipal do Seixal, é desenvolvida uma caracterização espacial, tipológica e histórico-diacrónica da totalidade das associações existentes neste Concelho industrializado da Península de Setúbal. O Concelho do Seixal constitui um extraordinário laboratório social de diversidade associativa.
